“Being an employee-owned company, we too feel the impacts of the poor economic conditions,” said Erick Taylor, CEO of RPCS, Food Pyramid’s parent company. “With rising gas prices and customers spending 7.7% of their income on groceries, we feel it’s our way to give back to our customers.”
Customers interested in participating in the bonus plan can bring their Economic Stimulus or Tax Refund Checks along with a government issued identification to the service desk at any Food Pyramid Market. There is a limit of one offer per household, capping at $1,500. The gift cards do not expire and can be used for multiple shopping visits.
While in the store, customers should visit the newly remodeled Food Pyramid stores now featuring Starbucks (in select locations), full service bakery, deli and meat shops, as well as extended produce, natural & organic and seafood selections.
RPCS Inc. evolved from the first Ramey grocery store in Springfield, Mo., opened in 1919 by John Ramey. Today RPCS Inc. operates 45 grocery stores and 29 pharmacies in southwest Missouri and the Tulsa, Okla., area, under the Ramey, Price Cutter, Price Cutter Plus, Smitty's, Food Pyramid, Save-A-Lot and Ponca City Discount Foods banners. The company also operates the only online grocery stores in two southwest Missouri metro areas (Springfield and Joplin), and 21 licensed Starbucks located inside select Price Cutter Plus and Food Pyramid stores.
On Jan. 1, 2005, RPCS Inc. became the first employee-owned grocery retailer in the region through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), offering employees the opportunity to participate in the company’s ownership.
